Graduation

Well, looks like Greg and I have graduated our youngest! That is really hard to believe. The party was great and a big "Thanks" goes out to everyone that was able to attend. Those who couldn't make it you were missed. It was a really special time for several reasons: Of course, Alex Graduated, but also I had ALL four of my brothers and sisters, Mom, Jim and Dad, all here to help us celebrate. We had an amazing time!! Time together is always so nice.

Hello...from California. Greg, Keely, Lauren and I are all doing great and happy to join this new Shea family blog. The picture to the left was taken at Easter after a wonderful breakfast at my mom's house and easter egg hunt. We have been really busy but enjoying a lot of fun activities with the kids. Keely is in 4th grade and plays girl's fast pitch softball this year. Lauren is excelling in Gymnastics and softball as well. Mom & Dad just try to keep up with work and getting some exercise.

Hello from the East End of Long Island

First, I want to thank Margaret for setting this up. This is a great way to get connected with the family which is spread out, and share our journey's through life.

Stacey and I are enjoying living on the East Coast although all my travel and, Parker & Cody away at school makes the house very empty for Stacey.

We were lucky this year to have both the kids home for Christmas as well as my Dad visiting. We took the opportunity for a family picture.

While Stacey and I were looking at the blog, we realized how much time has passed as we saw the pictures of the younger members of the family now becoming young men and women. We look forward to catching up on everyone's lives.

At the risk of embarrassing Parker and Cody, I'm going to give a quick update on where they are currently in their life journey. Parker completed her undergraduate in Business at LMU in Los Angels in 2006 and is currently in her second year of law school at Hofstra University on Long Island (which Stacey and I are enjoying since we get to see her a little more often). She just got back from a litigation competition in Las Vegas.

Cody is wrapping up his double major in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in California at UC Davis. When he is not hitting the books, Cody is pursuing one of his passions he developed while in college - Fencing. Both Stacey and I have been bummed in not being able to see Cody at any of his competitions since we are living on the other side of the US. We hope he continues to follow this passion so we can see him compete one day.

Well, I have bragged enough about our two children. I look forward to others in the family bringing us up to speed on their families. We'll continue to share what we are up to as we travel through life. Because we have not had a chance to see so many people in the family in a while, we'll also share some 'flashbacks' on events that have happened in the past.

Isaiah's Visit Huntsville!

What a great weekend!! Kristin and I were so excited to have Isaiah visit on their way through to school in Texas! The group of us spent a couple of days together reminiscing and catching up. We were amazed at how much Alex and Isaiah's wife looked alike. They could be sisters! Thanks for stopping Isaiah! Y'all are welcome anytime!

We survived!! We got 18 inches in just over 24 hours...aaauuugghh...my aching back!! The kids had a great time..wish Mom and Dad could say the same. Anyone want to come visit??

It's Still Snowing

Well, it's been seven days, so we had another snow event. Last night brought rain, sleet, with a two inch snow to cover it all. The driveway is cleared again, and I just went out and chipped away and scooped the frozen slush that the snowplow left behind. This winter has been a jim-dandy.

All is well here. With this much wintry weather, we've watched plenty of movies, and I've been busy reading whenever possible. I checked out the shrubs, and noticed the deer have tasted one of them. They are rather desperate for forage. With this much snow, the perennials should have good insulation, and provide an abundance of landscape covering this spring/summer.

Ohio Visit!

We just returned from visiting Mark, Angie and the boys! WOW, what an active family! The cousins had a lot of fun hanging out and climbing on Alex. It was so nice to see everyone. Alex enjoyed seeing the snow and throwing snowballs at Uncle Mark and the boys. It didn't take her long to decide that she was ready to go back to the warm of the South.

While there, We got very lucky and were able to attend a Barack Obama rally, since Ohio is the hot place to be right now with their primaries being on Tuesday. Alex helped with his campaign in Huntsville as a Precinct Captain and LOVED IT! It is nice to see her being passionate about politics and making a difference for her country. Michael thought the three hour wait was a little long but found it interesting when we got inside. He was a real trooper though!

Mom and Jim e-mailed me this picture the other day and I thought y'all might like to see how Mom is spending her time. That's right, she is very busy!!

Thanks to All

Thanks to all the Sheas for sending these lovely and amazingly fragrant flowers in my mother's memory. As many of you know, she passed away last week after a long illness. She had been living in a nursing home for the past 15 years, the last few years with very poor quality of life.

We used the flowers for the memorial service on Friday, February 15th, which was held at Summerville Presbyterian Church in Summerville, SC. She was buried in Clinton, SC (where my sister, Libba, lives) on the previous day.
The scripture we chose was Luke 6: 27-36 because Mom never held
any blame or resentment for how her life turned out and seemed to
forgive effortlessly. The choir sang one of her favorites " The Hallelujah Chorus" at the end of the service. Again, thanks for everyone's support during this time. Love, Kate

Hello from Jim and Karen

Obviously this is new territory for us. Therefore, our contrbutions will at first be rather timid. In a while we will be more adventuresome. We kind of reticent about venturing too much personal access to our computer from people other than family. My greatest concern is that big "BLOG" somewhere out there in space, accessing our computer. We store nothing sacred, but don't want to have it screwed up. Now I know that will make everyone laugh, but when you are cautious Karen, that is the way life is.

We are bracing for another wintry blast. This a.m., I am going for groceries, and a few errands, then it will be time to hibernate.

Hello, everyone! What a great idea, Maggie. Just a little update on my family: April is 25 and her son, Brennan, is 5. They live in Pella. Brennan is in preschool there and April works at a salon in Knoxville. Roman is 20 and finishing an Arboriculture program at Northeast Iowa Community College. Jon is a senior at West High in Iowa City. Don designs and sells custom cabinetry in Coralville...and I am a nurse in the ICU at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Let us know what's up with all of you.

Hello everyone! When we were visiting Dan and Kate over Christmas Kate thought it would be a good idea to start a blog for the family. I think I have it set-up, but you may have to be patient with me as we work through any bugs. Anyone that I add as an author can add postings to the site, so please forward any family email address that should be added and I will add them. I don't think there is a limit but I guess we will all learn this process together.
